Excited may not be the only word that comes to mind, but I'll start there.
Last October I had a breathing issue and nearly passed out. Wife got me to the ER where they got my breathing and O2 levels back to normal. Doc did a chest Xray that didn't show any irregularities. We did a CT scan that revealed a tumor about the size of a ping pong ball in the upper part of my left lung. I had not had any symptoms related to the tumor. Breathing issue was caused from dust from mowing and bushogging, so this was a Blessing that showed the doctor and me what the bigger problem was. After contacting my primary doc and some searching, God had picked a team of doctors. Two of them said that I would be lucky to get everything going in less than six months. God had other plans. By the first week of Nov., schedules were arraigned for a pulmonologist, surgeon, and oncologist. Through November I was tested, biopsied, scanned, x-rayed, MRI'ed' and consulted. We decided that due to the holidays we would hold off on surgery until after Christmas.
On December 29th, I went into surgery and came out without the upper half of my left lung. Recovery went really well as I had some of the best nursing care anyone would want. January 1-4th I was walking 2 miles up and down the hospital halls. Humbled is the next word that comes to mind. During my tour of the halls, I had the opportunity to encourage other patients as well as nursing staff to what God had done for me. There was one night where there were three 'code' calls came in and I wondered if those people knew Jesus.
HE placed it on my heart then and there to tell everyone I saw, about HIM.
I spent the rest of January recovering and getting tubes and stitches pulled out. Visited with my oncologist and got a plan in place for post-surgery chemotherapy. Sort of an insurance policy in case something slid past the surgeon. I've had treatments every 3 weeks since, with the final one tomorrow morning.
These 6 months have opened my eyes as to what is really important in life.
Loving GOD and loving people. Taking every opportunity to share Christ's love with everyone I can and realizing that He alone controls my days here.
Given the number of recovery days after a treatment, I have figured that I will be ready for 'the Geezer's' birthday get together. I am so ready to be around friends and people other than doctors and nurses, although I love all of them.
I know that there are several on here that have cancer and some who are still fighting it. Just know that I'll still be praying for YOU.
I would like for all to celebrate my chance to Ring the Bell and KC*****.
