    Polaris not charging

Any thoughts about an old 2006 Polaris that's not charging the battery? I know they use a "stator". Not sure how that works. Is it hard to replace? Are they expensive? If not that, what else might be the culprit?

Probe the regulator wires w a multimeter to test

Get a multimeter and check the voltage at the battery terminals with the engine running. In order to charge a 12v battery you need around 14 volts at idle. A stator is basically an alternator but attached inside the engine versus a separate component. Should be an external voltage regulator for it as well that could be the issue. Probe it upstream and downstream to test it. Could also just be bad connections.

First step is make sure the battery is good if you haven't tested it already

If battery is older than 3 years, I would replace it first
