To strip or not to strip?

Ok, get your mind out of the gutter! LOL

With the recent ice storm, I have an excess of cedar posts after all the clean up.
My wife has been asking for a compost bin, so I was thinking of using my cedar post bounty to build it. Should I strip the bark off the posts or not?

I would strip the bark off. My dad has some cedar post that he left the bark on they are perfectly fine however the bark is perpetually in a peeling state and I don't really care for that look. Cedar will obviously last a long time but I think it would last even longer with the bark peeled and post sealed. Guess it just depends on how much work you want to do peeling bark.

Dont add any additional work leave the bark on because she'll want you to remove it later.

the bark is going to come off anyway, at some point.

with onlyfans you can make more money without even having to drive into the office or getting harrassed by cougars in the parking lot on the way out to your car. I say go for it, if you're confident enough.

Edit: I need to start reading the first posts of threads.

My concern is leaving the bark would promote rot if/when we return to more rain.
Or does the natural cedar oil prevent rot?

Leave it, when it starts falling off, just toss it in the bin. And for the love of Zeus, don’t give her the option…

I would say see if you can get by without stripping it. I stripped 10 large cedars with my pressure washer for porch columns a while back. After staining they turned out really nice but you talk about a MESSY job!! I still had cedar bark in my *** crack a week later!

I have seen a place that will sell you bark mulch that comes in a convenient easy to carry bag.

                          I’ll run with no stripping.
