Is this the correct file size for this chain? Been using with some Success but not like I would like to see. My question is the sharpener file is 4.0 mm and on the box it has a 9.32 mm and 3/8 P? Any help would be greatly appreciated, tired of buying new ones.

It says 3/8"P on the sharpener handle and on the chain package too. Looks like a match, unless somebody put a different size file in the sharpener. If the round file fits the saw tooth, you're in business.

That’s exactly what I thought but what is up with the 9.32 mm? This is the one the guy gave me from the shop but I don’t feel like it works correctly. And yes I keep it level and go in the right direction and rotate the file as needed. Just curious if the 4.0/9.3 to millimeters make a difference?

You have to angle the file some. Keep the edge of the plastic handle parallel to the saw bar, and then you might need to tilt the sharpener up or down a little. Does the round file fit into the curved saw tooth?

Looks to me you need a sharpener for a 3/8 picco micro chain, not a regular 3/8 pitch. Are you running a 170 or 180 saw with a 16 inch bar.

            It’s a 181 with a 16” bar

Thats the wrong sharpener for that chain. You need the one for the 3/8 picco chain.

I believe the P after 3/8” on the picture is for 3/8” picco. I have a standard 3/8” sharpener at home and i don’t think it has a P on it but will have to look.

OP when I use that style sharpener you kind of have to put the round file on the tooth first and roll it down until the flat file is on the depth gauge if that makes sense. As for the 9.32 that is the metric number for your pitch and 4.0 is metric for the file size. You’re chain box shows 4.0 is the correct file size.

Chain box looks like it calls for 4.0mm file

Never heard of a picco chain.
