Daily driver with 2+ year expired registration

How/why is a long story. DMV website has conflicting info. Anyone dealt with this? Process?

The inspection is up to date.

    Thanks.

They will ask if you have been driving the vehicle and if you have received a citation for the expired registration. They might want to charge you a fee. At least that’s what they told me when i went in with a vehicle that was 4 month past renewal date.

Tell them you haven’t driven the vehicle and that you trailered the vehicle to the inspection location. Apparently, they are wanting folks with expired registrations to go get a temporary permit when driving the vehicle to go get it inspected. Money grab.

Agree with above. They may also charge you for both years

Had that come up years ago. Told them the truck wasn't running for 2 years. Had to sign a notarized affidavit stating same. Cost me $1 for notary

            Let you know tomorrow.

I have a ‘98 dodge that’s been parked for 5 years. Just spent $3,000 getting it in tiptop shape.

Same thing just happened to us. You just bring the registration/insurance form and pay as usual. You just have to do it in person as opposed to mail. They didn't back charge me. They just ask if I had received any citations since last year(s) which I hadn't. Paid my $77 or whatever it was and was out of there.

Anyone know what to do if I have never gotten a registration renewal form? We bought a used 2019 in 2020 and have never gotten registration renewal paperwork. No tag on the car either

I think you can find it on the TXDot website.

I understand the yearly inspection to make sure vehicles are road worthy, but having to register the dang things every year is retarded.

Took longer to wait on the safety inspection, than it did for the window sticker. No problem at all.
