    Transporting a 12’+ tractor disk

I’m looking at a new disk for the farm and wanted to upgrade the size I have. I’m not 100% but, isn’t the DOT ruling say you have to be 8’ or less for non permit loads? When you transport these things, do you break them down or what?

Farm tags gets around some of that.

Unless I was going a long ways I would load it, flag each side and roll with it

8'6" is the max width to transport without a permit. no need to break it down, just buy an overwidth permit. they cost $60 for a single trip, good for about 3 or 4 days.

With farm equipment, you’re fine pulling it. No permits needed.

Just flag it and go. No need to waste $60

Just pull it, I pulled a disc a few weeks ago down hwy6 through college station that was 20ft wide. I pulled it from Calvert to a few miles south of Hempstead

Also if your going a long ways some discs are shorter than they are wide. I hauled a 14ft sideways on a float through DFW with a 10ft offset on the trailer as well. Boom it down and send it. You can get away with a lot with farm tags in texas.

just wait untill some A hole from Austin runs into it while they are texting on their smart phone. it won't work out well for you.

in Texas you have to have an escort for anything over 14' wide.

Yep, lot of folks don't know the rules on oversize loads. Depending on the height and width, you will have a specific route you have to take also.

Implement of husbandry isn’t required to be plated, but does have to have a slow moving placard on it.
