    amazon plasma cutter recommendations

looking to buy a plasma cutter for some light duty, farm use ... i was wondering if any of you have personal experience with any for sale on amazon ...

i'd probably prefer one with built in air so i don't have to get an additional air compressor ... i have a compressor out there but it's small .

Any how ... looking for recommendations if you bought one and like it ... give me some feedback and possibly a link ...

    thanks in advance!

This is the one I bought, so far it has worked great and I've cut up to 1/2 metal with it. You would need a good air compressor though.

My friend and I went in halves on Prime Weld Cut 60 we were both very very impressed. we cut 1'' thick just playing around with it. He worked years at local fab shop and had expensive unit he bought from shop but went out. The fab shop recommended this unit cause they use now with no problems and good warranty and parts. $700.y Have done several jobs mostly 1/4" -3/8' . need compressor though

that looks good , but you have to supply air it looks like .. it doesn't show the cfm required ...

this is the compressor i bought for out there .. would it suffice ?

Does using them with 110v reduce the cutting thickness?

all the reviews I see say yes ... some even suggest skipping 110 all together.

I just put in a 50 amp 220v breaker in my shop this weekend...

Buy the best quality you can afford.

                  Buy once cry once.

                    hum .. NO!

Just because i could afford to drop a few grands on a plasma cutter doesn't mean i need to buy the most expensive one i can afford.

I want to buy the cheapest one i can that will do a good job for what I need it to do.

but thank you for your pointless comment.

Yes. I've got a 110/220 unit and used it on 110 for about a year. Built a 50 Amp 220 extension cord and the difference it made was huge. Cuts much cleaner, faster, longer, thicker... in fact if I had to go back to 110 I'd sell it, you couldn't pay me twice it's worth now.

Not pointless at all. You asked for opinions and he gave it, then you got your feelings hurt.

I’ve used quite a few different plasma cutters and most of the low to mid range models are junk and a waste of money. Hypertherm and Miller are well worth the money. Either spend the money now or you can spend it later replacing with something you should’ve bought in the first place.

I would skip the built in compressor also. You’ll be better off selling your current compressor and buying a bigger one. Buy one bigger than the minimum CFM requirement also unless you want to constantly be waiting for it to fill up

we'll just have to agree to disagree then ... just because i have ten grand in the bank doesn't mean i'm going to buy a $10k plasma cutter when a $500 will do the job . I use a hobart 140 , i added the bottle... it's 110 volt and it welds perfectly fine for what i do ... I took a welding class through my work and they had a 440 volt unit .. it was bad *** ... that doesn't mean everything else lesser is junk ...

i didn't get my feelings hurt either... but buy once cry once and buy what you can afford is just not constructive criticism .. much like your response as well.

i appreciate the no built in compressor comment and will take that into consideration , but as far as the rest , you are the one missing the point ..
i'm not looking to do this for a living .. my original post was light farm use ..

working on the pig trap , shooting targets and such ... i don't need professional grade ... looking at the reviews on the plc-50dp , that looks like just what i'm looking for. so thanks Matt-c for the suggestion !
