Best way to kill a tree?

    Cutting the bark will do it. Trees get their water to the branches through the bark.

      As others have said, be careful....killing a neighbors tree can cause you some problems. I'd go the proper route.

        drill 3/4 inch holes in it as deep as u can at a down ward angle. real deep, try to get into the middle of the tree.
        fill it up with the poison of choice, half diesel/used motor oil works well. let that soak in and hit her again, repeat for a while until it doesnt soak up, which depends of tree species.
        then, hear comes the trick part.......
        jam a limb or dowel rod into the hole snug and break it off flush.
        no one is any wiser

            I have in the last three years found that huricanes... are a very usefull for removing trees, big ones, small ones, green ones, dead ones, tall ones short ones.... every thing but live oaks them are some tuff trees!!!!!!!!!!

            might be a hophornbeam aka, toothache tree, hackberry, its a fairly hard wood also...

              if any of the roots cross into his property & are relatively accessable (i.e. not too deep), would the copper work in them? perhaps the deed could be done w/o trespassing.

                Chemical called Remedy. Expensive but it works on all woody plants or trees

                  Can't believe I'm reading this!!!! Do you all still choose between paper and plastic??????

                    Pour salt on the ground under the dripline. Five or six bags of rock salt should do it.
