BBQ Recommendation - Traveling NW Houston to Canyon Lake area

Tomorrow, I will be traveling from NW Houston (Cypress) to the Canyon Lake area. I am wanting to stop for some good BBQ along the way. Looking for recommendations.

Planning to run up 290 thru Bastrop but there is no reason I cannot detour or take a different route. Not really on a schedule, so options are open.

    Thanks.

Depending on what time you are rolling through, try The Burnt Bean in Seguin. But probably have to get there early unless you have time to wait in line.

Go to Lockhart and try a couple of the big names.

Truth BBQ in Brenham is some of the best I have ever had!

I have heard some good things about Schultz’s Pit room in Seguin. Maybe worth a shot. I have not been there myself.

I would definitely route thru Lockhart.
I like the nostalgia of Smitty's Market. Blacks is also good.

Plenty around Lockhart. Burnt Bean in Seguin. Rabel's Roadhaus in New Berlin. I'm also a big fan of San Marcos BBQ.

City Market in Luling or Hays County BBQ in San Marcos.

I think he said he wasn't tied to a schedule and could change his route if I'm not mistaken. I think Burnt Bean is worth the try if you can get there early. Tried all of those mentioned except Schulze's and I think BB is the best, but that is just me.

Hays County BBQ is pretty darn good too. Gotta get the Hatch mac and cheese!
