    Outdoor Security Cameras???

What brand of wifi outdoor security cameras do you recommend? I am looking to put up a few around the house / shop. Wired is fine as I have outlets in the soffit and I really don't want to have to change batteries all the time. Also, don't what to have to pay for a subscription to look at videos. My understanding is some record to a SD card or something that records in a loop overwriting the oldest video's as new ones record but can be viewed thru an app. Also don't want to get notifications every time the wind blows so being able to turn off notifications would be needed.

Let me know what you recommend.

Give Robert a call at Edge Automation, LLC. 281-808-eight-zero-2-six. We hunted together. He is an avid hunter/ outdoorsman and does these types of installations for a living. He can answer all your questions. Technology changes daily, and the quality of images from good cameras are incredible, especially at night.

I'd looked at nest cams previously. If you've got power already, hard part is done. There is a version with floodlights even. I'm interested in hearing other options as well...

I used to have a camera system with its own video recorder, but it was a complete PITA. Always some kind of hang up, interference, etc. You said you don't want to pay a subscription, but I have to say Ring has this schitt down to a science and I don't have any problems seeing all around my house, customizing zones, etc.

I’ve got Amazon blink cameras currently. They do their job, and don’t have any additional costs involved(except the cost of those lithium AAs but they are almost a requirement). Like I said they do their job, but not quite what I wanted.

At our old house I had a Lorex POE system that I installed. I left it when we moved as I didn’t want to deal with uninstalling it. The 24-7 recording is what I prefer. The blink cameras only record when they are triggered. What was nice about the Lorex and 24-7 recording is that if a neighbor had something goofy going on or saw something, I could go back and review the video and go “oh yeah that suspicious car/person/ghost came down our street too”. One day I found my side gate open(dog met me out front). Was able to go back and see that two days prior a stray cat had jumped up on the fence and bumped the latch as it did so, gate barely opened and dog had “escaped” twice before I found it was open. The blink cameras wouldn’t have caught that most likely.

I could review footage or live feed on the app just like the Blink cameras, but I also had the NVR and a monitor in the coat closet by the front door. I could always look to see who was at the front door before opening it(great for Jehovas Witnesses or sales people coming by). Blink cameras were WAY easier to install, but the POE system wasn’t difficult either. I ran power to the closet, and installed Ethernet port jacks in there for all cameras to feed into as well as my hardwire internet connection. Overall I was really happy with the setup, but Lorex does have added fees to store stuff on the cloud, but I never paid for it. If someone broke in while I was gone and stole the NVR, I was SOL. I’ve been looking at ReoLink systems which are comparable to Lorex.

A great 4K 8MP PoE security camera system for business or home. It comes with 4 dome cameras and a 2TB 8 channel NVR for 24/7 recording, featuring person/vehicle detection, audio recording, etc.

Welcome to the next generation of Fusion. This revolutionary NVR has 8 wired channels and 8 Wi-Fi channels. This allows you to combine the reliability and performance of the included 4K IP Security Cameras with the versatility and convenience of Smart Home Wi-Fi Cameras, Video Doorbells, and Floodlights to create a tai

I bought Reolink cameras and DVR for my house, easy to use, app works great. They are POE (power over ethernet), so you don't have to run power to the cameras.
