    Non-Ethanol Gas Storage.

How long are you guys/gals comfortable storing gas with no ethanol??

I have been keeping 10gals of gas stored for the generator in case of power outage & what not, then after around 3 months dump it in the truck & refill...well, I snagged a couple of those fancy gas jugs recommended on the other thread & we FINALLY got a station fairly close that offers non-ethanol.

Just curious what the comfort level is. Gracias.

Fuel guys that deliver our bulk fuel say 3-6 mos i think is about max with treatment.

We have had bulk non ethanol last 6 months in overhead with no treatment with no issues. Usually its empty in 4-6 or less so never tried it for longer.

The less air contact, the longer the gas will last. Full tanks vs less than full tanks.

Yup! Too much air and it will get condensation which will then separate and make a mess in the bottom of the tank.

I use my 6-6 gallon jugs within 3 months in the winter and 1 month in the summer so I’ll have to go 3 months with my experience.

Add Marine grade Stabil and this is absolutely correct. I refill/run dry my generator annually. It stays filled with non-ethanol mixed with a double dose of marine Stabil and starts up and runs flawlessly year after year.

I had non-ethanol fuel in gas cans (full) for a full two years. Added stabil just because we had it. We put it in a car and no issues in the car, no CEL, no timing issues, no smoking. Seemed fine.

Would that be Stabil 360 Marine just to confirm??

This is the hot ticket. Marine grade has an ethanol killer in it. I also add Seafoam at the rate of one ounce per gallon.

I don’t have to replace or rebuild carburetors very often since I adopted this. I have gas in machines that’s near 2 years old, and will still roar to life with on or two pulls.

Petroleum-based gasoline that does not contain ethanol will still succumb to oxidation and volatile compound evaporation in a sealed container or tank, but these processes usually occur more slowly in pure gasoline. Expect non-ethanol gas to last at least 6 months if it's properly stored.

If I was using it in something with a carburetor I would not go past six months. But hey, what do I know? I only make it where I work
