Lots and lots of blooms still around our place but we have lots of little green berries too... Normally it's early May (maybe very late April) before most of the dewberries get ripe here (about 30 miles north of the Houston area). My cultivated blackberries are going nuts too.. already got green berries as big as the end of my thumb.. Hope they don't get frost bit tonight!! Trying to figure out if I have something big enough to cover the two plots we have...

I wouldn't go buy the sugar for jelly just yet... If it frosts tonight like predicted, all those bloom n little green berries will bet burnt and likely killed...
We are going to cover our two blackberry plots for tonight. I hope I'm wrong, but I've seen it happen before when they bloom out this early...

We covered our two blackberry plots, but all the dewberry blooms out in the pasture look like they had scalding hot water poured over them!!It was 30 degrees Sunday morning and we had a frost that looked like snow on the grass! Dangit! Don't know if all the little green berries that were on the plants will make or not, but it sure doesn't look good for the blooms...
