Spring break hunt time! Had to leave my son who is a senior this year at home due to district baseball starting this week.
So my wife, my 14 yr old daughter, and I loaded up and headed to Kerr County Monday morning.
Daughter and I hunted this morning and saw just 1 blackbuck. Came back to the house and did some antler hunting and fishing.
This evenings hunt started out slow. Finally had a large aoudad ram come out, but trophy’s aren’t on the menu for this trip.
a group of ewes came into the feeder area and I gave her the go ahead on a specific ewe. After multiple times of getting ready and having to stop due to shot placement, she pulled the trigger. Shot her in the shoulder and the ewe raised up on her hind legs and ran off.
Waited about 20 minutes and I left her in the blind to go see the area where the ewe was when shot. Immediately found good blood. Went back to blind and told her we were going to wait 45 minutes before picking up the trail.
While we were waiting, a sounder of pigs came in. She picked out one and placed a round from the 7mm-08 right in the ear for a dirt nap.
After waiting a little while, went to pick up the blood trail from the ewe. Found her about 30 yards from where she was shot.
Great start to the week, now I just need an axis or blackbuck doe to cooperate.
