Timing belts aren't that bad to replace yourself if you halfway enjoy that kind of work and aren't in a huge rush. Are most of y'all with long lived Tacomas have the regular 2wd suckers, the TRD 2wd, or 4wd's? Just curious.

I WAS a Toyota tech, now write service for them. No real need to mark cogs/pulleys as they have a groove on the cam sprokets, and a little dot on the crank cog. I do recommend the water pump as well, prone to leak at your mileage. Also, put a pin in the belt tensioner makes it alot easier to run the 2 bottom bolts in when reinstalling. Coolant yes with waterpump obviously, but the radiator can stay in, just a little tighter work space. Really not alot do it, you will need a 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, and a 19 for the crank pulley.

You guys have inspired me to do the belt myself. I already ordered a Bosch water pump. However, I have noticed there are various kits for the timing belt project. Some have a few bearings and the belt. Others comes with a bunch of crank seals. Do they need replacing too? Thanks for your help.
