Cigar Starter Kit

I’d like to get a cigar humidor kit so that I have cigars on hand when I have guests over. Are there any beginner kits online you all would recommend?

My wife got me a glass kitchen storage container with a tight fitting gasket lid that snaps down on all 4 sides. I added a thin cedar sheet and a 72% humidity pack. Work great for about 5 years. Just saying ...... cC

This is the route I go also. I can hold about 30 cigars. Humidity packs off of Amazon are cheap. They last for months.

Yup. X3 if you just dab in cigars this is the way.

Yep, good advice so far. As far as a "kit" goes, I would have all of the following on hand:

20-30 cigar humidor as mentioned. If you go wood, do some research on proper seasoning
Torch lighter & cutter (cheapos from Amazon are just fine)
Butane refill can
72% boveda pack if you go the jar humidor route
Some sample packs of stogies to have on hand. Check out cigarsinternational.com

I got rid of all my wood humidors when I cut way back on collecting, I now have a small pelican type case that I took all the foam out of and I keep a small collection of sticks in it for special occasions. I use 2 72% Boveda packs and they last a very long time. Wood humidors lose humidity pretty easily and need to be checked more often.

I've had 40 dollar humidors and 400 dollar humidors and they are pretty similar in needing to be checked regularly. Even with electronic humidification you need to check regularly for mold. I never liked the electronic humidifiers, they use water and foam which is a bad combo in my opinion. You get too much moisture and there comes the mold. Boveda packs add and pull humidity to keep it regulated. The case I use now is water tight so thats why the packs last so long, there's no leaking through the wood and depleting the pack.
