    Cool predator calling experience.

Did a varmint hunt and hunted all night last night. Didn't do worth a dang but I did have something cool happen. I had my light scanning and about 20 minutes after I started calling I see two sets of eyes. One set coming down the hill and one set standing on top of it. I look through my scope to see a badger leading the way and the coyote stopped to look around. Badgers are furbearers and the season is over. On top of that it's not legal to shoot those at night. So I left my light on the coyote and waited for it to stop skylining itself so I could shoot it. The moon was full so as the badger got closer I could see it without shining the light on it. I was trying to watch it and keep the coyote in my light at the same time. The coyote took about 10 steps and was where I could shoot it and have a backstop in case the bullet passed through. The badger got 15 feet away from me and I scared the crap out of it when I shot the coyote. It went hauling butt the same direction it came from.

I've talked about it on here before but I've always known coyotes and badgers hunt together. Just never would have thought I'd call them up while they were out huntin.

Sounds like a cool experience. If it was in Texas that badger would be at the taxidermist

He wasn't a real big one. I lost track of where he went. I was in the middle of a prairie dog town so I'm thinkin he went down one of those holes. I don't know for sure though I was making sure my coyote stayed dead. I wanted to watch it but I had a lot going on at once.

I don't think that ding dong even saw me. He went waddling on by me like he didn't have a care in the world. I did see him about come unglued after I shot. It looked like he turned around in mid-air and was bouncing around like a pinball.
