I have a 1HP single speed Hayward pool pump that I am guessing is 15 years old. It has started making noise in the pump area and not holding pressure like it used to. I have check for obstructions and leaks and found none. My pool is between 10,000 - 12,000 gallons with no water features and only two jets on the side and one skimmer. I am thinking it is time to replace and thinking of going variable speed. Between Hayward, Jandy and Pentair there are a ton of options. Does anyone have a recommendation on pool pump? Also, what would be the maximum HP I should go with? If I was buying single speed I would stay with 1HP but not sure with variable. FYI, I will do the install myself.
Also, the pump is about 50 feet from the pool and at the same level. I have pool heating solar panels on the roof of the pool house and I have been happy with the results of the current pump over the years.
