    Anyone have an axis cape

My daughter shot a nice axis buck and I screwed up the cape when gutting it.

The processor said he'd get me one for the $40 skinning fee, but it may be Summer before he gets one in. Anyone got one?

I have a few tanned but they sell for $250-$325 depending on the size.

How big was the deer? You have a picture?

I have a smaller one that I'd let go for the tanning costs ... I'm getting out of the business and clearing out my extra capes.

What capes you got? Some of the Africa hunters might consider saving $ by just bringing horns and using your cape[s].

I’ve got a few that are tanned I can part with. But not for $40.

I got a couple from free range hill country bulls in the freezer from 2 years ago. One was an old bill and the other a younger slimmer buck . I’m not gonna use them. You can have them both. In Spring Branch north of San Antonio.

The bigger one for sure is good for a mount, full cape with head. The other may just be the neck down hide. I don’t recall for sure.

If you are going to get it mounted, it will need to be tanned sooner or later. If you buy a tanned one now, your taxidermist should just deduct the cost of the tan off your mount. Plus, if you bring him a tanned cape now, there’s a pretty good chance the deer could get mounted sooner.
