    Dead Cedar Trees?

Anybody know if there is a market for big dead cedar trees? I’m guessing they are 10-15 inches in diameter and 30+ feet tall. My neighbor has a place she inherited and has close to a dozen of them. They are all still standing. I’m going out there tomorrow to finish cutting up a fallen oak tree. I’ll get some pictures to post up later. She wants me to cut them down, but I don’t want to fool with them.

We hauled 6 ft log up here and the guy sawing our hardwood lumber took it for payment on the sawmill time.
Straight and standing dead with good colored heartwood should have a market.

Thanks. I was checking for my BIL but it’s too far.

Juniper doesn’t have value other than fence posts- If she needs posts save for that other than that there really isn’t a market unless you are cutting 100s of them

They make nice furniture and mantles out of cedar or juniper. If it has nice dark heartwood someone would like it.

Odd the sawmill guy we use wanted it very much for making furniture, we don't have the taller, straight juniper trees so they were very interested in the 6 ft log we had.
You all have tons of them though so maybe not as good of a market?

Call a mill and talk with someone about them.

That’s just it. I don’t know of any mills and neither does my neighbor.

I wish there was a better market. I’ve got hundreds of them. It’s hard to give them away

I feel like all I do is cut and burn cedar piles. Seems like a waste of good lumber

I bought cedar lumber from a guy up by Navasota last year who has a small saw mill. He said he is always looking for trees. Maybe look on Facebook market place for cedar lumber and call a couple of them to see if they are interested.

I’m about to load some pics. I believe these trees are bigger than what I guessed. I took measurements on 3 of them. 49, 54, and 71 inches on the circumference. Do the math and you can figure out what the radius is. I’ve been out of school way too long!!!

There used to be a cedar oil plant near Leaky. Don't know the name or if it's still there but I heard they wanted dry dead stumps and logs.
