    Best feeder battery

What is the best 12v feeder battery y’all have found? I’m running an ASF feeder with a standard 12v 1.7 watt solar panel.
I usually get 1.5-2 years out of a mighty max battery. Just wondering if there was something better

Been using the all season batteries or the power sonic and normally get 4-5 years.

The cheap ones from Bucee’s are lasting me ~5 years. Only upgraded out of precaution, never had an issue. Rotate the older ones out for back up.

Buccees batteries here. I’m getting several years out of them.

This is what I use. Will last forever compared to lead acid batteries and will tolerate complete discharge much better than SLA.

No problems with cold temps? I got a similar one that died with the first hard freeze.

I have used and liked the blue top batteries in the past but its just too easy to grab a few at Bucees for the price when I am getting corn, fuel and ice with one in town here. Have had great luck with them as well....

Nothing so far. Lithium will discharge down to 0 degrees, just won’t charge below 32. That shouldn’t be a problem too often in Texas since it’s usually north of freezing when the sun is shining.

But definitely a valid concern. Might be a better option for shaded areas where you can’t get a solar charge to work

For all of them you'll get a lot more mileage out of them if you use a real solar charger and a 5W panel. Summers with a solar and no solar controller is brutal on batteries, they basically get cooked. The controllers are pretty cheap, $25ish on amazon.
