    Anyone insure an ebike?

I'm contemplating the purchase of an ebike, and given their hefty price tag, I'm concerned about potential damage or theft. It's always better to be safe than sorry, so I'm exploring the option of purchasing insurance that would provide coverage in the event of any mishap, such as if it were to fall off the back of a truck or be stolen while on a hunting trip.

I'm curious if there are any insurance providers who specialize in coverage for ebikes or if I can have it included in my current auto or home insurance policy. Upon calling my insurance company, I was informed that my home insurance policy could potentially cover it. However, I'm hesitant to go that route as i would be obligated to pay the 1 or 2% deductible for my home insurance to replace it. This option doesn't seem particularly advantageous to me.

How much are e-bikes? I thought they were only ~$1,000-1,500?

    Honestly curious.

You can get one in that range, but I recently rode one that was in that range and wasn't impressed at all. But I was turned onto the convenience of it. I would say one that that is made for hunting would probably start at 2k and go up from there.

I hunt off of one of the cheaper ones. It's not terrible terrain so it works just fine and I didn't spend a fortune. I also ride it around Lake Fork.

I am only doing public land for the near future. One thing that big lake bottom showed me was to be prepared for anything. The ebike i used was able to do OK in the gumbo mud. I imagine with the 4" tires and a little extra boost I ought to be ok. I am likely going to get a game trailer as well.

Start at $1k and go up. Seen some that will run you $8-9K.

I don't but I have purchased a new motor, controller and a lock system for the bike. The battery is locked to the frame.

I had a QuietKat and reached out to Allstate (who holds all my other policies) to get insurance on it...they even insure my side x side. They just flat out said no, they would not insure it.

This was a few years ago so things might be different now.

might want to up the insurance on yourself! you "will" separate from the bike

Sig, Ruger, S&W and even Glock provide good insurance.

I have 2 QuietKats and a Rambo. Fairly expensive bikes that I would certainly like to have insured. I don’t have a drop of insurance on them because I haven’t found anyone interested in covering them.

Yes - and riding an Electric Mountain Bike over broken terrain, typically we are not suited up like dirt bike riders due to weight and heat.

I wear a helmet and gloves but, no body protection. I got dumped riding on an offroad area I had never ridden before - at sundown. Didn't see the darn vertical drop before I was on it. Sucks to get dumped over the front tire in a slam dunk. Cracked some ribs and road 6 miles back home. Hurt like hail for a couple of months. Helmet saved my arse from concussion and or cracked skull and death.

Low light visibility rides - headlight and or headlamp is a must offroad.

Wouldn’t these be covered under your homeowners policy?
