I had no idea you had to jump though all these hoops to get accepted into A&M. All I did was apply when I graduated high school and got accepted.

It's gotten pretty crazy... my son has a 4.+ weighted GPA, 29 ACT score, top 12% in his class, many AP classes, volunteering, NHS, etc. and is waitlisted and being "considered" for Blinn Team.

She's active, and has pretty good grades, but her school has an "Academy". If you're not in the Academy you are way down on ranking by default.
My son was Blinn team in Engineering and things worked flawlessly as he graduated in December. Saying that I understand your daughters situation is different. He knows friends who went straight Blinn and did well enough to transfer over. He has friends who did straight Blinn and never got over the hump and moved elsewhere, while he also had friends crash at burn at A&M after getting accepted.

It's all about her grades while at Blinn, the degree plan she chooses is also key. It's one thing to transfer in...the thing is she may NOT get her degree plan of choice. One thing to graduate from A&M....another to do it with a degree you didn't want, or cannot use.

I would speak to a counselor and be prepared to have serious conversations about what she wants to do with her degree.

I think I’d go to Tech or Sam! It is amazing how much A&M has grown!

Randy - my son was a very reluctant college student. He was making great money doing fishing videos for youtube/facebook in high school and didn't want to go to college. We insisted that he get a degree as a "backup plan".
He is still making videos for a living....but he is glad he graduated from TAMU. He met his wife there and now still lives in the area.

Not sure what he could actually do with that degree lol....but the TAMU Ag college was fairly easy to get in from Blinn so that's the route he chose.

Being around a bunch of people who went to A&M instantly motivated me. Transferred to A&M after two years at Blinn. Graduated from A&M 3 years later.

We called it Blinndergarten when I was there. But looking back, that's probably where I grew up the most.
Lots of folks look down on 2 year colleges. I went to a two year school then transferred to a DI. It was the best thing I could have done both academically and athletically.
Your daughter needs to enjoy the process of picking and choosing what her path is going to be. What if she does well in cheer and dance and gets a scholarship to go to SFA or U of H.
If she chooses Blinn have her apply for both the Exemplary and Endowed scholarships. Ever little bit helps.
OP send me your daughter's name and I will put in a good word for her with Sarah. I sit by her every Monday in our coaches meetings.

Believe me, I understand. My youngest was interested in music/band and went to Texas State and graduated with a sound recording degree. In spite of me telling him that the job opportunities would be limited, he still received that degree. He worked for a small recording companing in Austin for a while, then abandoned that. Now he works for a huge medical company, Abbvie.

My youngest nephew was recently accepted to the A&M Business school, and is now considering Arkansas, with his older brother.[emoji35]🥲[emoji2961]

I love those boys, and I’m super proud of them, but sometimes I wonder about them…

Nothing to add, other than I was smart enough to get straight into A&M. Second quarter of my high school class and a 940 on my SAT. Add in about 20 legacy family members and walla, welcome to Aggieland. Man on Man, how times have changed!!!

Good luck to all the kiddos working their way into A&M.
