Some marigolds from the last time I planted okra. Marigolds have a natural mosquito repellent in them. But won't deeter pollinators. They will repelle some of the craving bugs.

To get the seeds, simply let the flowers die and wilt. When they turn brown, the flowers will usually have several hundred seeds in each flower. They are very easy to grow. These reached about 3 feet in height before the plant died. But they start blooming very early after emerging. Click image for larger version

That’s good to know. This is only my second year growing onions so I’m still learning.

I wish we could split the difference. I was tilling mud pies and making deep ruts with the tractor tires. We planted broccoli and cherry tomatoes today. Onions and radishes are doing pretty good. Taters haven't broken soil yet, but it's only been 3 weeks. Cabbage is looking pretty poor.

I noticed today that my okra is breaking the surface in about half the buckets. I put 3 seeds in each bucket. May have to transfer some.

We are cutting lettuce and Chinee cabbage every other day now.. Other stuff is starting to kick into high gear (well cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower plants anyway)... Beans are up (one of 3 varieties)... Had to re-start all our peppers and maters... They gonna be late this year Maters may not do too well, but peppers will be fine... Will start squash, cukes, zucchini and such in trays tomorrow... Gonna try to cover my corn with bird netting to see if I can outsmart the dang crows... Will plant corn and peas after the cool snap next week, then we'll be pretty much in high gear...

Got taters coming up in most of my tubs. I get excited when I see new growth.

What happened with your tomatoes/peppers? Bad seed or get nipped?

Best we can determine, we had the temp of the heat mats too hot and with the wrap we put on them to retain moisture, we “fried” the seeds. We got zero germination, not just bad germination, ZERO germination after over 3 weeks.

Interesting. I didn't even know you could get the peppers too hot lol. I've had them take longer than that but I don't use heat mats. Hopefully you get up and running pretty quick. Heck, you may able to direct seed at this point?
