Hard to disagree....actually I started growing zuchini in the fall and it helped drastically with the vine borers. I have 14 pepper plants
My neighbor grows okra and we trade out as I have limited space.

It gets absolutely covered in bees and helps my tomatoes get a jump start until the marigolds, zinnias, lantanas, etc start blooming. I just let it go to seed naturally and save some for planting in the fall just in case.
Normally we have marigolds and zinnias growing early, but this year, with all the rain, most seeds my wife planted in the ground directly just rotted. The transplants we started in the grow room and greenhouse that she planted are stunted badly... Marigolds are just now starting to bloom and a few zinnias have finally started to bloom... Last year we had about 5 or 6 big bags of marigolds and we'd move them around. Had some zinnias in bags too, and a full row in the garden that were the giant zinnias... Those have been a miserable failure... That stuff don't grow well when you have to pump water out of the garden for days at a time...
Neither of us like the taste or smell of cilantro, but might grow some for the flowers... To me cilantro tastes/smells just like a stink bug smells!

10-4 on that. My mom is allergic to cilantro so we have to label salsa, etc accordingly when we are canning. I could eat cilantro every day and be happy as a lark lol

I tell yall what I got up on my soapbox and typed out a whole 5 paragraph rant on how bad 7 dust is, but I'm trying to be a better man. So I have backspaced it all out and will just say this. Please consider trying other safer options that we have now out on the market over 7 dust. That is all. Yall have a wonderful Tuesday afternoon.

We had plenty of bees back then. When Harvey came along, we got just a tad over 50 inches of rain and the water inundated the entrance to the hive as it was in a hollow that was at the base of that old hackberry... It got the bees and nothing has returned to it since. My best pollinators now are actually bumble bees. I don't know how many hives I have on or near the property, but I know where one is... It's on the side of a right of way I keep mowed that leads to the back of my property and into the woods. I found it shredding one day about 3 or 4 years ago... I've been mowing around that spot since. No telling how big that hive is by now, but it is still very active. Berry vines (wild blackberry and dewberry) have grown up around it, but we don't need berries bad enough to pick those!!
I'd love to get me a couple hives and put them down in the pasture a short distance from the house... Anyone do this and is it something that is time consuming and is it safe from being overrun by too many bees?
New bee keeper here. I have six hives. Need that for my ag value/taxes. The effort required for keeping bees is dependent on whether you're in it for the honey or not. I'm on the hardcore side and this time of year it's 1 hour a week (hive check day). If you just wanted honey bees around as pollinators, you could get by with way less time.

As far as doing their job with the cantaloupe crop, they're saving me a ton time not having to pollinate myself.

On the honey side, my ladies are incredible. I'm not supposed to take honey until July. Yesterday I checked them and the underside of hive lids were covered with comb. That had to go. Unexpected honey harvest!!

I'm always open to new, safer, organic options when it comes to the garden. Do you have some products in mind that you could share for some of us that may not know?

Wow that is awesome! Did you buy a hive/bees from another bee keeper or order stuff? Tell us please a little about how you got started.
Is it best to start a colony in the Spring or can they be started at any time of the year, Summer or Winter??

                            Water System

Do you like this watering system and do you find it to work well? I have read about it.

I didn't add the post I was referring to.... Do you like the wicking system for all your veggies?

Does anybody know what’s causing this and how I can keep it from happening again?
