Can am issue after fuel filter change

I have a 2020 can defender hd8. I changed the fuel filter today and when done I turned on the ignition switch. The dash turned into a Christmas tree. The dash is saying “fuel sensor fault”. It’s throwing P0341 and P0629 codes.

I have checked the connections for the sensor and they have a solid connection. Disconnected the battery for 30 minutes hoping to reset the system but that failed. Oddly, the can am is running perfectly fine.

Have any if you run into this issue? If so, what did you do?

Tuned in. I’m fixing to pull mine and change it.

Was it easy to get those hoses off? Doesn’t look too difficult but….making sure I’m prepared as I’ll be in BFE

It’s not difficult and pretty straight forward. The hoses take a little finesse to remove.

Spoke to a tech at the dealership. He said if disconnecting the battery didn’t reset the sensors then they will have to hook up to it with a programmer to reset.

He also mentioned that can ams sometimes just throw codes that won’t clear without the programmer. It’s frustrating that there are so many sensors on these vehicles now.

Agree its scary how much crap is on them and if you are out in BFE one little thing can leave you stranded. Compared to old days if they had fuel, Air, water and compression they would run forever.

Be sure and leave battery unplugged for a bit to make sure everything goes dead dead. I know some of this stuff now takes a few minutes to actually go down all the way.

Perhaps disconnect battery before doing any work. May be able to avoid situations like this

Yea that’s something I’ve learned from this issue.

Update. Cleared all the codes finally. The first dealer I spoke with was Action Sports in CS. Mechanic told me to bring it in so they can diagnose the issue. Considering my experience with them has been subpar in the past I decided to get a second opinion. I called East Texas Powersports and talked to a technician. He told since the utv is running fine I likely didn’t line two arrows when I screwed the filter back into place. You guessed it. That was my mistake. Got home from work lined them up and started up without any fault codes.

That’s awesome! When you provide that kind of service to someone that didn’t buy a machine there, that speaks volumes!

Exactly. I don’t even live close to lufkin but will likely buy my next one from them just because of this instance.
