I actually scoop them up and toss them outside. We have them 12 months a year here.

They just became common a few years ago.

My camper at the property was full of them right before Christmas. I never seen them before, but I vacuumed up a few hundred that died inside the camper while I was away. I hate those bugs. Im hoping it was a one time thing.

I had the same thing happen to me after I got bit by a bee and I have been bit by tons of them and yellow jackets in the past with no abnormal reaction. Apparently you can start to have allergic reactions to things later in life even though you haven't had them before. I had to go get bee/hornet venom injections for several years so that my body could build up a tolerance to it. Dr. gave me an EpiPen. I always have it when I go to the ranch.

Thanks for posting. I’m going to look into options like this.

I used to keep an Epi-Pen close for wasp bites. I highly recommend it. It can save your life.

Like you, been stung hundreds of times in my life by every stinging insect known in the area. One day while mowing the grass a red wasp hit me in the back of the neck. 10 minutes later I was breaking out and itching, nothing serous. Per doctor I took benadryl and waited to see. Next day went to the doctors office and was prescribed an epi pen. I carried it in my truck for several years and direction say not to expose to extreme temperatures. Well it's Texas and I can't keep my truck from experiencing extreme temperatures and I never carried that magic marker size pen with me when I left my truck. I threw it out and decided something has to get me one day. Been stung numerous times since and never had another reaction.
The sting that got me was on the back of my neck where it meets my skull.

Also, I hired a yard guy and solved most of my problems.

Glad you were able to make the ER! Dad had a similar experience a few years ago, wasp and bees had never phased him until one sent him to the ER.

My problem with an epipen is that there is no realistic way to store one with you in TX without it getting too hot.

And I had no idea those Beatles would sting!

Had something similar happen to me as well Matt. Stung countless times growing up with no ill effect. Walking off a porch one day about two years ago and a couple yellowjackets popped me on the back of the neck. 15 minutes later I started to itch in a couple places. 30 minutes later my lips started tingling and then swelling. Called the wife (she's a PA), she dropped everything she was doing and drove over to where I was and hit me up with a few over the counter meds including Benadryl. It began to clear up shortly thereafter, but I noticed she was watching me like a hawk and was more nervous than I was about it. She had a few pens prescribed for me and is always sure I've got them packed when I'm headed out on a trip. I've had no issues since.

Reading through all the posts, the common thread is being stung in the back of the neck.

Thanks everyone. No other reactions over night. I should get to go home today. Should see a dr at some point.

I always have a cooler on the truck so I might vacuum pack it and keep it in the cooler.

I noticed that too about the back of the neck. Definitely a scary feeling and makes me worried because I’m outside and away from medical attention frequently.
