Throw & Grow food plot ????

Well last Friday I planted a food plot using some of the Throw and Grow stuff they sell in Academy. I planted an area a little bit smaller then the bag suggested.I planted it in the woods where it gets good sunlight. Raked all the leaves and tilled it as well, by hand! My back hurt the next day!. I do not plan on using any fertilizers on it except maybe some Miracle Grow.. I am new to this food plot stuff

Any suggestions would be awesome or if anybody else has used this stuff how did it work for you. Thanks in advance.

I tried some once and it did not work that well, some came up but not very much. But I did not put very much work into it.

I would suggest fertilizing it, even if you have to get one of those hand held or push spreaders. I would also put out some granular lime with the fertilizer. The 13-13-13 in the bag will probably work for you, but ask at the feed store.

It is mostly rye grass seed, and should be treated as such. Keep it watered regulaly if you can. And you may need to replant come fall due to the summer heat.
