    Concrete base eroding away

Just had an extension installed on our home that included a new sidewalk. The sand base for the sidewalk is eroding away. Any suggestions to fill it back in?

Seems like maybe need to investigate water runoff first to keep from happening again?

I would consider shoveling pea gravel up under it for support; then lay down sod along the edges. Someone else may have a better solution.

If you need someone to fix it, I know a guy.

Did yo use a 60/40 bae or just sand? When you get it repaired I would put some grass or something as a barrier to keep said base in place.

Yeah I was thinking something along these lines but figured there may be a spray foam of some sort that would work better.

Grass was trampled during construction.. doesn’t grow great in that area and it’s been fall/winter ever since. These heavy rains haven’t helped.

Ya have to be careful with the pea gravel. Might end up with a bunch of unwanted deer in the yard [emoji16]

I was mainly referring to a larger slab. Sorry.

How did you expect to get the water away from between the house and sidewalk? Did they add a drain or pvc pipes underneath to drain the excess water?

The area where you took the first pic is that the side closest to fence or yard or on the house side?

Looks like you have enough slab on the house to fill that completely between house and sidewalk. Adding much fill between the sidewalk and fence is likely to cause fence rot issues and possibly neighbor issues if you send water their direction. The sidewalk should have been installed partially below grade and you wouldn't be having the problem.

It defiantly was installed wrong. You can dig under it a little below grade and shovel some sacrete under it and then backfill to grade asap to keep it from happening again. That might work if it hasn't eroded to far under it.

Pack where it washed out with cement stabilized sand
