Id call the neighbor. I believe Bison is considered livestock regardless if it's tagged.

      Game ranch escapees

Unless it’s something like a bongo or elephant I’m whacking it. No one is going to spend the money for a helicopter to get 1 axis deer or oryx back.

As far as darting an animal that’s not very reliable as they can run for several minutes before passing out.

The next stag went in their freezer…then an Eland lol

Like the great Beto O’ Rourke once said,
“hail yeah we’re taking your tag off before posting pics on the inter web”

I've had buffalo, auodads, fallow, sambar, antelope, red stag, and gemsbok get on my property from my neighbors high fence ranch. Just saying some didn't make it back

Don't shoot in National forest. Remember the guy that got red stag taken away from him.

Yep, must have knocked the tag out on the way through the fence

I would contact or try to contact the neighbor also! I’m not against high fenced places at all and as a matter of fact I get to hunt on one fairly often but nothing is tagged . If I was a high fenced land owner and a flood or other acts of God knocked my fence down I would be absolutely sick over it but I would never expect a neighboring place not to kill them even with a tag in it’s ear!

Happened in Brady long ago, they swam like fish to the other side All sorts of animals got out.

as an exotics landowner i understand the challenge with identifying something that is not tagged. we have lost several animals thru holes in the fences and washed out gates over the years. it is heart breaking and very expensive to replace them and fix the fence.

on a loose axis, blackbuck, fallow, aoudad in the hill country, it could have come from any number of neighboring ranches and you would have no way to truly identify it.

when it comes to elk, zebra, buffalo, scimitar oryx and other SUPER Exotics, much fewer ranches have those, so i would think that might be an easier call to a landowner.

not blaming people for hunting what is in front of them, but remember that celebrating that loose animal also means another hunter lost both a hunt opportunity and a lot of money in the process. so, while you likely can't get it back to them, maybe be a little more kind to their loss along the way. (or at least on the green screen)

we are all hunters here regardless of how high a fence is

Elk, axis, oryx most would consider free game if they walked out to your feeder but what about a buffalo or a zebra? Do you just let them walk? Are there laws that protect them or are they legally ok to shoot?

This is truly hypothetical and I wonder what folks here would do.

Call landowner and report the sighting?

                                Boom…..?

Give it a few months and then game on?

Let them walk and say nothing?

                                What would you do???
