    Lawn Question

Just moved into a new house and I would like to try and get the lawn pretty nice. I have a well established thick bed of Bermuda but there are some small weeds that are growing in it? Anyone know what they are and what I should treat with?

I have always been the type to avoid doing anything to make the grass grow because I hate mowing. What should I fertilize with and when?

Henbit, several products available to get rid of it. With that said I been fighting it for 4 years and it keeps coming back.

Follow Lawn Care Nut. He sells product direct to consumer and has plans for all grass types, even though he’s a St.Aug junkie.

Check him out at his website and YouTube.

Monthly fert and periodic herbicides is all you need. You start a good program, you’ll be laying stripes down by June.

For southern grasses including: St. Augustine, Bermuda, and Zoysia February to Early March (Optional) – The Early Green-up! Done with fast-acting 15-5-10 formula. (Preferably Nitro-Phos Imperial 15-5-10) Southwest Fertilizer also has a proprietary 15-5-10 Southwest Lawn. February to Early March – 2-in-1 pre-emergent herbicide (Preferably Barricade or Dimension-based) March to April (Anytime in spring) – Trace mineral

If link doesn’t work Randy lemmon schedule… best advice

I use Micro Life. You can put it out monthly and it will not burn the lawn...

24d should rake care of it and not hurt the grass. Spray and then be patient. Cool temps retard the herbicide so it takes a little longer to work.

Did you hear he passed away a month or so ago? I just found out a couple weeks ago. Very sad. Randy was a great resource for everything green.

Yes it is sad. I enjoyed listening to him and he was a wealth of knowledge.

Be careful with 24d on a hot day it can move down wind the next day
should not be much of a problem with cool weather

Henbit. Good snack for chickens, make a salad it’s edible or simply pull them out making sure to get the roots.

A good pre-emergent (Prodiamine) next fall should keep it from coming back. I don`t have any in my lawn, but it comes up around my shop. This year it has came back earlier than ever. It will die when it gets hot.

The weed will die as the temperatures warm. Put down pre emergent within the next few weeks. Fertilizer a few weeks later, then a second treatment of pre emergent in may or June and you should not have any major weed issues this summer

Spray it with roundup or generic glyphosate and a pre emergent now. Your Bermuda will look great this summer.

Won't the glyphosate kill his grass?
