Tunnel to Towers, Shriners, and St. Jude are the ones we give to automatically every month.

Fisher House at Fort Hood is my favorite. You can make a gift as a memorial to a veteran.

Equipping Truth Ministries (equippingwithtruth.org) is a church based missionary charity that lets you adopt a child in poverty. My wife's cousin is a missionary from North Carolina who runs it. They send us photos and letters from the children.

Almost forgot, Texas Lions Summer Camp in Kerrville (for disabled/handicapped/diabetic) kids. You can become a life member, or make a smaller donation.

We have a local one in Lafayette,
Acadiana Veterans Alliance that I like a lot.

Acadiana Veteran Alliance serves to unite Acadiana-area veterans, Acadiana veteran-owned businesses, and all Acadiana-based companies for a common purpose.

This is the time of year for charitable giving. Consumer Reports checked out the charity watchdogs to tell you some of the best charities for your donations.

My last company “forced” us to donate to UNITED WAY.

I felt it was the worst way to make sure my dollars go to the needy or a good charity, but made the company look good publicly and was simple for them.
Mine does the same. Well it doesn't force us but it puts as much pressure on us as it legally can. And yes, UW is a sure fire way to get as little of your money as you can to an actual charity. I no longer participate through them. I give directly to the charities now.
We give to charities that have helped us at different times. Like Cook Children's because of the incredible treatment they provided my son when he was there. Also to the Alzheimers Assocition. We give directly to the Ft Worth chapter because we gained a lot of help from them when my MIL was dealing with it.
Of course we also give to our local churches (we have a couple). And we try to give randomly to those who are in need as often as we can and whenever we feel called by the Holy Spirit to do so. We've given away several cars to families who needed them.
Thank you God for the spirit of giving as well as those who honor that spirit. What a blessing He has given us!

Same here. Ours investigates and donates to several local, area, national, and international ones.

Our main charity is the local pregnancy help center. We are both about as pro-life as a person can be, so we put our money to work enabling young mothers to keep and care for their baby rather than aborting it. There are lots of good charities out there that have been mentioned.

The festivus feats of strength and airing of grievances.
