Let’s see your FEL grapples / root rakes

I’m shopping implements so right now i’m focusing on a Grapple/ root rake in the 7’ range- I guess it could be in the 6’ range! It’s for a 62 hp compact tractor so I need to keep the weight down a bit! I know it needs to be danged tough and that the rake tines need to be somewhat close together. Twin top grapple clamps vs top tine clamp .

I’m looking at the EA’s Wicked root grapple!

It’s not purchased yet but i’m locked in on a Kubota Grand L6060 HSTC! I’m working out the details today! It’s not easy finding a new one and even harder getting what you want on it! I am definitely not ordering one and waiting 8 months to a year on it !

I just bought the Armstrong Ag BGR 64-9. It is awesome. We have a 95 hp tractor.
I think a 7' will be too much for that size tractor.
Armtstrong ag make a 86" and it is 1,000 lbs.

I have an Armstrong Ag grapple and like it. I was a little worried about it on a 2wd tractor, but it’s never been an issue.

I think you’re correct on width! 1000 lbs is a pretty heavy grapple! I have some Armstrong ag implements and they are pretty tough!

Mine is a beast and I picked up full trees 15-20' and grapple never let go.
I think the BGR64-7 or BGR64-9 would work great.

Armstrongs are hard to beat for the money and design. They kind of have the best of both worlds. They rake and grapple. The rakes with more of a bucket shape with longer front tines put alot of added stress on tilt cylinders. As you have to roll them so far foward to actually use them as a rake. They work ok on skid steers where you can sit in the cab and see the teeth. But on a tractor you have more blind spots then visibilty. The armstrong also has the pipe on the bottomn to help set the depth so you dont gouge to much.

I dont personally have one but have several other styles. Ive ran one quite a bit on a buddys tractor and for a tractor grapple its pretty hard to beat for the money.

EAs ive seen before and they look dang tough and i bet they are high. I would go with there root rake grapple combo. Not just the plain root grapple.

I have a frontier on our little tractor that has single clamp on the top. Its been handy as all get out and I can say Ive put the entire tractor on 2 and 3 wheels more times that I can count and dont have any issues with the grapple.

This is how I work a tractor but maybe not so much with my first New one

I have a Kubota 7040 and a 6 ft Armstrong. It is all my tractor wants if I push it.

The 7 feet would be to much for your tractor.

Get one the width of your front bucket.

There was one instance where a chunk of concrete that was left by some rouge concrete truck on our property. I could pick it up but needed 4x4 to drive cause the back tires barely touched the ground. I had the wife and kid stand on the draw bars to get the concrete on the trailer...

I need to add some water to the rear tires

That’s exactly why I’m leaning toward the EA Wicked! Stronger steel and weighs in at 450#

IMO thats why they make 4X4 tractors. Might as well use it to the full potential. 2wd with a FEL is leaving alot out there unused. Hard to make people understand that.
