    Bed rug or?

New truck and want to put something in bed. I thought a sheet of plywood was great 40 years ago then bed liners and mats came along. I'm not familiar with bed rugs, truck will be used for hobby type work and hunting. Corn to feeder wood and steel in small amounts (a few 10 foot 1/4-1/2-inch pieces).
Anyone have thoughts or experience with rug? Compared to mat what's the advantages or downside?

      Definitely.

One went into the truck we bought in October. If it not the best liner on the market, it’s definitely in the conversation.

I thought the bed rug was to be used in conjunction with a camper shell...... Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the only bed "rug" I am familiar with. I had one on a truck that I had a camper shell on and I loved it. However, with age.....the camper shell seal began leaking and mold and mildew set in on the bed rug. I thought I'd never get the smell out of the bed of the truck while the shell was on it after I removed the rug.

That's why the bed of my current truck has a sprayed on liner.

Good luck to you with whatever you choose to do.

Nothing that holds moisture. Still using the good ol rubber bed mat myself.

This. My 1 ton has a rubber mat that is 17 years old and still does the job perfect. I pull it out and pressure wash it every couple of years. Added one to the 1/2 ton when I bought it.

I prefer the sprayed in bedliners.

Cheapie bed mats for me. If you use your truck it’s all you need.

I wouldn’t want anything that held water. I do bed mats and transfer from truck to truck when I get a new one.

For years I've been using a stall mat from Tractor Supply. They are 4'x6'x1" thick, heavy, virtually indestructible, stuff won't slip and slide, and they only cost around $50. The 48" width fits perfectly between wheel wells, and I cut 6" off the length to fit my 5.5' bed.

Speedliner. Best spray in bedliner I have ever had.
