    The Chosen

Hadn't seen a thread on it, so curious who else is watching?

My GF has been watching it and I've seen a few. Great show and I need to watch all of it from the start.

We were watching until the season 2 finale showed the Sermon on the Mount as a staged event with a curtain? Jesus is God, he needed no help or rehearsal with what He would say IMO. I realize liberties have been taken and that has been fine but an event like the SOTM and the way it was portrayed went too far with those liberties.

I don't know I thought that scene was well executed. I mean we have no knowledge of how it all went down but we do know that the Savior learned line upon line precept upon precept, just like us. So just like us preparing for anything in life we would seek help and assistance from our friends and family just as he did. I know a lot of the ministries back then would have similar events and showings to entice and spread the word better. I agree, I didn't really understand the stage and curtain but it did introduce some interesting symbolism with the veil and christ going through it before the audience.

Really a great show in terms of showing a perspective on the culture of the Jewish people at the time and the roman presence. Also, I think it is striking how genuine, happy, and human they portray Jesus.

We love it. As far as what liberties were taken, if you weren’t there you’re taking your own liberties in discrediting it. My 7yo twins really enjoy watching it and have lots of questions after. It’s family movie time followed by a little Bible study time.

Glad you folks are enjoying it. We did for a time and I agree on showing the culture. He learned the precepts as any boy would and he amazed the scribes. There is too much context in scripture showing he was God than just the statement in Philippians. As far as my liberties, show me a stage and curtain at the SOTM and I'll retract my statement. Continue to watch and I hope it leads people to Jesus and they get into the word themselves. Sorry I wasn't able to go along with the crowd.

Bill, no intention of discrediting your perspective and views. Only meant to add and enhance. You're absolutely correct though in leading people closer to Christ in a more personal, fun, and enjoyable way. That I've personally found is harder to do through the bible alone. Hit the nail right on the head there.

I respect and understand your point Mr Bill. For whatever it is worth I still don't picture, in my head, the sermon on the mount having a stage and a curtain either. In fact, scripture in Matthew actually says He sat down and then started teaching. For me, I just don't see it having an affect either way on what He said. I can see things like this being a concern for others though. Thankyou for your point.

My point exactly. Absolutely doesn't affect the message of His teaching but in the scene, it didn't show his teaching. I hope it did with the first episode of the third season. It was just a little too far off for us so we will pass. Enjoy.
