    ATV/UTV/Mule storage

One of the things holding me back from trading in my old 4 wheeler for a side-by-side is storage. My shed is only large enough for a 4 wheeler, a Mule or Ranger simply won’t fit. Do any of y’all store yours outside in the elements? If yes, do you use a cover? Any worries about rodents getting up in the wiring, electrical?

I keep mine in a shipping container. I would definitely be concerned about rodents if storing outside.

I do this, my truck won’t fit anyway.

When I owned another place, I kept my cart in this, it was rodent proof.

Didn’t think of the storage container idea. Those aren’t too expensive to acquire plus they have a good secondary market. Good stuff.

I would not recommend storing it outside even under a tarp. The Texas sun will ruin one quick. With the price of SXS's these days go ahead and spend the money to build or buy something to keep it in.

Mine is generally under a carport at the new house. I'm sure its fading a little but we don't have the cash for a shop just yet. At least it's not getting rained on. It lives at the lakehouse during the summer in the boat barn so may through august it's inside.

I park my car/truck outside and the ATV in the garage. Many a good ATV/UTV were degraded before their time because of the elements and rodents.

My old mule is stored in an ouitside storage yard, on it's trailer with a cover on it. Been like that for 4 years. The owner of the lot keeps the grass and weeds trimmed. Haven't had a rodent or any other storage related problem. Other thing I've done is put a battery disconnect on it.

Agreed on the rodents. Mine is in an enclosed building but not rodent proof. They chewed the wiring harness, left me enough to splice back. Constant battle with them. Looking at a shipping container for the Ranger or whatever I replace it with.

This is what I’m worried about. Had rodents chew up wiring before. No Bueno!
