2023 crappie thread!!!

“Conroe” is way up north from Conroe apparently. I am not familiar with it either.

I made every effort this morning to talk Tom out of this trip. The wind was gusting 25 miles an hour, drizzling rain and just miserable out. He was dead set to take his grandson fishing so I told him I knew of one place that we might be able to get the boy out of the wind and still catch a few fish. We found a pocket back in the buck brush and we’re able to catch fish using jigs under a slip cork in 2 to 3 foot of water. The rain quit mid morning but the wind never let up. They ended the morning with a one man limit and a bonus bass that really tickled the kid.

I’m gonna take my wife and boys out on Conroe tomorrow. Does anybody know if the crappie are up shallow spawning? Or is deep water the ticket? I’m not to familiar with Conroe thanks

There up shallow in the back of pockets. If you don't get bit move until you do

Correct! Conroe is everywhere but Conroe! And then again sometimes it’s Conroe! Gotta go! Just pulled up to Conroe!!

all I can catch today is trash fish. caught them in 20ft and 2ft. not sure where the crappie were hiding today.

Only had one guy today! He had his 25 and then we threw them back for a while. All caught on timber and roaming in 6-10’ FOW.

Bill Muntz donates a free mount to whoever wins big fish of the year at the Crappie Anglers of Texas tournaments. My partner Drew Black and I caught this big white crappie on Pines last year and she hung on as big fish for all of 2022.
I asked him to do a replica Black to go along with the white. To say I am tickled with them is a huge understatement. His art work is stunning. I have been told taxidermy is supposed to be viewed from 10 foot away. These fish look great holding them in your hand.
