Lake Palestine Marina or The Villages look easy to access.

@brandonh , if you aren't set on bass and crappie, yall might catch a mess of sandies in the neches where it goes under highway 31 just west of tyler. Not sure what the run is doing there currently but this is typically a good week for them. Excellent parking and walk in access there. A good boat ramp as well. We prefer to fish kickapoo, about another 5 miles or so west, but it is a more improvised ramp situation and there is basically no bank fishing opportunity. If you put in the neches at 31, you can also get into palestine easily. I'd say it is less than a mile down stream.

I made every effort this morning to talk Tom out of this trip. The wind was gusting 25 miles an hour, drizzling rain and just miserable out. He was dead set to take his grandson fishing so I told him I knew of one place that we might be able to get the boy out of the wind and still catch a few fish. We found a pocket back in the buck brush and we’re able to catch fish using jigs under a slip cork in 2 to 3 foot of water. The rain quit mid morning but the wind never let up. They ended the morning with a one man limit and a bonus bass that really tickled the kid.
