    Motorola Tundra vs. Samsung Rugby

Ok TBH'ers, it's almost time for a new upgrade on the 'ol cell and I've been listing out the options are most important to me at this time. I do not need the internet, but I do use my phone a lot. I use the calander, calculator, camera, send texts, like ringtones (need a loud ringer) and like a speakerphone option. I work in a very dusty environment and almost always have dirty hands. I also take my phone everywhere especially hunting, so I like the water resistant option.

So, I have pretty much narrowed it down to these two. The Motorola Tundra and the Samsung Rugby, do any of you have or have previously owned either and what are your thoughts on them? I know there's a major price difference, but at this moment we're overlooking that and only looking at the phone itself and it's capabilities.

Thanks for all of the thoughts, comments and suggestions!

No help, but I am considering the Tundra as well.

Samsung better reception from what everyone says & Samsungs generally more rugged.

We use the Rugby here in Houston at FMC. I like the push to talk as well as the GPS.

We went with the Rugby for our field staff. No complaints or returns yet, but it has only been a few months.

Do either of them meet Mil Std 810D for shock, dust and water?

My elk partner had an older Moto phone that did, and it survived through a 2nd story drop off the roof of a house.

I can't help you on the specifics. I ruined 2 RAZR V3's duck hunting getting dunked when I tipped over in mud, and stepped into a ditch in the flooded corn field.

Bill, not sure about meeting the standard. On AT&T's website they say "built to military specs" and there are a lot of reviews about the durabilty of both. One fire fighter seemed to have put his through the ringer several times.

All other things being equal, don't get a Motorola phone. The newer the models get, the worse they perform. I've worked with Samsung engineers in the US, and it's a top-level engineering company.

I have the Tundra and like it a lot, I dropped it from about ten feet on the concrete and it did not phase it.

I have the tundra, the first one didn't turn on and off properly. It would "hang up" or freeze. Other than that it's ok. Would probably go with the other option.

I have always had a samsung and i am clumsy and drop mine all the time and the worse that happens is my battery pops off. Samsungs have the best reception. My husband and daughter have motorola and they do not always have reception everywhere we go.
