    Tire Size?

Is there any advantage on a truck between 17 inch or 18 inch tires?

Smaller wheel sizes generally mean cheaper tires and better ride.

Availability of various sizes and cost of tires varies a good bit between the two

Smaller wheels are a step in the right direction for better MPG-bigger wheels weigh more than smaller ones.

17” tires are cheaper, smoother, and easier to find. More rubber less metal is always better.

The smaller the wheel, the taller the sidewall which directly leads to a smoother ride. If you are going off road, larger wheels will be easier to damage because of the smaller sidewall.

I’ve ran 17-20” wheels off road and get a 17” if you can, no bigger than 18”.

              20” wheels ride much rougher

Depends on what you’re after really but first, make sure the wheel size meets the minimum size for the brakes on the truck. They do have a minimum requirement to clears rotors and calipers.

Personally, and after having multiple vehicles equipped differently, I’d go with the 18’s. They might not ride quite as smooth as 17’s but they’ll also handle a bit better. Less tire sidewall=less tire flex=less body roll. You’d be surprised how big of a difference that makes even going between a size or two on the wheels, and I say this while looking at two Ram trucks as I type this. One with the factory 20” wheels, the other I dropped to 18” thinking I’d benefit from the change.

If I had to do it again, I’d have stuck with the 20” wheels on the one I dropped to 18”.
