    Freeze Protection

To keep any exposed water lines from freezing I use the heaters that are sold to dehumidify a gun safe. (See pic below) I use zip ties to attach the rod to the pipe and then insulate over it with foam pipe insulation. These remain on my water lines year round. I plug them in in November and unplug in March. They only draw 8 watts so not enough to notice in your electric bill. If installing on a vertical pipe put the cord end down. To make sure they are still working in November I plug them in for about 20 minutes and scan the outside of the insulation with an IR thermometer. If the insulation is a few degrees above the surroundings it is working. I have done this for about 10 years and never had an issue. Makes no difference if you are away hunting when a freeze hits.

These work pretty good. You can buy them in much shorter lengths too.

Heat tape works great and designed to be outside.

Heat tape and pipe insulation on my exposed pool pipes and equipment. Did this last year as well and zero issues with the outside pipes

Heat tape works great, just plug it in when you need it, most have a thermostat and rhey kick on when needed.
