    Mills Lane died.

    He was a good one.

    Referee Mills Lane, a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame who officiated some of the most significant boxing matches of the second half of the 20th century, died Tuesday at 85.

              He didn’t creep along in life waiting his ultimate demise. He came sliding in to a screeching end yelling “What a ride!”.

                  Mills Lane was a great man and fun to watch in the ring. He was quite the athlete, playing high school football and hockey. He boxed while in the Marine Corps and was a middle weight champion. He lost one of his fights to a friend of mine by the name of Phil Baldwin. Mills was also a lawyer and a judge.

                  Mills got his moneys worth in life for sure.
