Thoughts and prayers needed for friend

Ugh… I just learned that a friend I met early on during my AT hike was killed in a plane crash last night in Cleburne. Jeanette (Hula Bear) Stone and her husband Will Lyons both died. I met Hula Bear and her dog Kita Bear early on in my AT journey and always felt she was a kind and strong person. She rolled off the trail, moved to Terlinqua and learned how to fly (yup, that kinda cool). She met Will along the way and they moved to the Dallas area where she was a pilot. I am devastated over this. I never have been one to ask for thoughts and prayers, but here I am… keep her family in mind. Thank you.

To make it worse… Kita Bear (the dog) was with them.

I really don’t look at it that way. If I was gonna go out, I wouldn’t mind having my dog with me. They are all living a peaceful eternal life together.

That’s actually a good point. She loved that dog. Fond memories… one night in a very cold shelter on AT I borrowed that dog for warmth.

Thanks all. Man, it’s so sad. Every once in a while you meet a person for a relatively short period and they make a positive impact on you. She did. So tragic.
