You are correct, but P&V is for special occasions for us due to price. We went during restaurant weeks and still spent over $150 for 2 of us. Food is amazing.

Both of y’all bring your wallet. We live across the lake from there. My neighbors would walk there and slam a couple bottles of wine occasionally. As for me I’d rather save the Pearl and Vine money and buy deer corn!

Don’t get the fajitas. They are full of fat and plain nasty.

Is it one of those places that the items on the menu look really good but, the food is average at best?

We are looking for a good pre-game meal that includes chips, queso, and a margarita or 2.

Thanks again for all the replies!

The Cookshack is legit. I've been to the new one is Spring several times. Ribs aren't great but the fried chicken is top notch.

Go for Gringos. The food is great. I moved to Katy in 1982 and while Cucos is good, in my opinion, they can’t compete with Gringos.

I’ve had Gringos before. If Cucos doesn’t compare to that then Gringo’s it is.

                        Lupe Tortilla
                        Alicia’s
                        Gringo’s

In that order. In my opinion Cuco’s gets too much love for mediocre food.

Los Cucos is legit, don’t mind him. Los Cucos fajitas are also legit.

Look at his reccs, all big chain joints, some not so good at that.

Los Cucos, El Jarrito, Lupe's, or Ray's if you want Tex-mex (my favorite is El Jarrito). I also recommend Fusion Grill down Mason Rd. just north of Highland Knolls. They have some FANTASTIC food.

I'll agree with Ray's for Tex-Mex. I'll pick them over Cucos any day. If you're looking for a spicer salsa, ask for the jalapeno green sauce and their enchiladas on flour tortillas are what dreams are made of.
