    I think next time if you are unsure if it is alive or not you should get a hotshot, stick it down the hole and hit him with that. It should answer the dead or alive question. Just make sure the video is rolling.

      That could work. I don't know how deep those holes are though so I try not to mess with them too much if I ain't sure. Once they're in there they're gone. I've shot over 100 badgers in life and only didn't recover two. I sell them to a fur buyer so I try not to let them get down in the hole if possible. Can't shoot them in the head either or they're not worth anything. Head shots shut them down fast but they're practically useless if I do that.

      I've chased several down and never had one try to chase me back. They have a pretty fierce reputation but they're more apt to run from danger than confront it. They don't like being cornered but that's about the only time a person would see one get mean. I have a video of one I chased down a hole. It was hissing a little bit but it stayed in the hole.

        I don't know how to post videos but this is one I chased a while back and it ran down the hole. It's still out there somewhere. I wasn't trying to kill it I wanted to catch it.
