    Class A non CDL License

If I read correctly the only thing required if for a farm is a skills test?

If not correct please post what is required.

What is involved in the skills test?

    Thanks

I would think the skills test would be driving with a trailer.

There is no skills test. I think you mean "general Knowledge". There is also combination, air brakes, passenger, hazmat and double/triple trailers.

I got this from a DPS drivers license employee. She used to give the drivers test.

Exempt ( farmers/ travel trailer etc) class A or B cdl

You will need a copy of your birth certificate.

You will take a written test. Study chapter 14 or CDL manual only.

There will be a safety inspection of equipment.

You will take a driving skills test. You will have to drive safely and be able to back in a straight line. There is no parallel parking required.

ALMOST NO PEACE OFFICER EVEN MANY DPS TROOPERS KNOW THAT LICENSE IS REQUIRED.

Sounds about right. I looked into it when I bought a dump truck for my place. I went ahead and got my Class A CDL instead.

                I have a class A non CDL.
I went to test for my class B exempt when I got on with the fire department. When it came in the mail it was a class A.

I have had the form for the Class A or B Non-CDL on my desk filled out for over a year and haven't gone to to take the test. Maybe someone that has one will shed some light on what the test actually is because my local office couldn't tell me.

I was told by a DPS Driver's license employee that it only had questions from chapter 14 of the CDL Hand book.

What does this license allow you to do?

I have a class B CDL that i was about to ditch to get rid of the CDL. Maybe there's something else I could downgrade too?

It is required to drive a vehicle or combination (IE truck with trailer) of vehicles with a GVWR of 26001 or more. That would include many large farm trailers, and just about every one ton truck pulling a 40' 5th wheel. Most F250/350s have GVWR of 10k and most 5th wheels over 40' have GVWR over 16K

The non-cdl version has less requirements than the CDL version of course
