    Riding in mena

We're all set to go up this Friday and stay thru Wednesday of next week. In doing some research for trail maps I see that wolfpen gap is closed until the 21st. Are there other places to ride up there for the weekend or do we just have to chill qat camp?

Many years ago friends and I would go ride north of Broken Bow Oklahoma on Weyerhaeuser property. You just had to buy a land use permit at any of the local gas stations.

Download the Maprika app and look for the 2022 Wolfpen - OMTAC map. While the trails are fun there’s numerous landmarks to ride and check out, off the WP Gap system. The last few trips we’ve ridden more of the county roads and found spots along the way to stop and spend time. Just a few to look for would be Little Missouri Falls, Eagle Mountain & Bee Mountain. If you have a tablet to run the mapping it sure makes things easier.

Not sure where you are staying but you can ride up to Fourche mountain. It is a day trip for sure. About a 45 min ride up there but the trails are good and you can stop at Cherry Hill for good food and gas.
Also you can ride down to Cossatot Falls. It's all county roads and crossover one blacktop road but it is a good ride with good scenery. Also about a 45 min ride.

Honestly I'm not sure where we're staying either lol. Wife and sister in law booked the cabin. It's supposed to be around mena. You say you cross over 1 blacktop, I assume with that you mean you drive the sxs to these places?

Plenty of stuff to ride just on county roads. We drove as far south as Cossatot falls, East to a town called Oden and North to the Fourche trails. I actually prefer the county road driving as much or more than the trails, more relaxed and easy going. The fourche trails can get pretty hairy in places.

Yea once we get to where we are staying, we don't get in the truck until it is time to go home or we have to run to town for something. Yes some of the places we ride are 45 mins to an hour or so away, but that is why we are there, to ride sxs and enjoy the scenery.

I'm like you, enjoy just getting on a county road and riding. Sometime not knowing where you are going and just figuring it out as you go.
Fourche is fine as long as you stay off that one trail that is nothing buy rocks.

So you can drive your sxs on the roads? Anything you have to do to them to be legal? Like orv sticker plates ect?

I know you can ride on all county roads (most are gravel), you can cross state hwys but not supposed to ride on them. But in some cases you can ride next to them.
No sticker or anything needed for out of state residents

Most trails are designed for sxs, but there are a few that might be able to fit a jeep.
