Looks like maybe a pyrenees/anatolian cross. These make great dogs. They do love to wonder but they are never lost.

Absolutely correct. Someone nearby is missing him. Put out some flyers at the feed store. Probably a new pup introduced with some older herd dogs and he got a schooling and left due to the pressure especially if they have them on timed self feeders. We set our feeders on 15 minute intervals so alpha dogs get to eat first followed by the pack hierarchy. We usually add a cycle or two to make sure a new pup can sneak in later get his share. That pup looks exactly like one of ours and he is half Anatolian/half Pyrenees. Great dogs and very protective of stock and humans. Might make a great shop protector. Nobody will come in that shop at night with the deep bark they have.

If those dogs can protect chickens and not chase my deer I'd take it... If I wasn't so far away.
