Can I plant rye grass now???

I just had a bunch of dirt spread near my barn. I’d like to plant Bermuda there, but everything I have read tells me I should do that in the spring. If I got some rye grass seed and put it down, would it take and maybe keep the weeds and native grasses from taking over till spring???

They don’t like it much anyway if there’s anything better available. Rye grain yes, rye grass, not so much.

Are you planning on seeding the Bermuda Grass. I have had success with sod as long as it irrigated year around. Also if future are you considering perineal or annual Rye?

Yep I planted 20 sacks of oats and 4 sacks a week ago. Rye needs moisture and cool nights to grow.
