Hey Bucknaked, we will likely take some pretty good South Texas bucks that would be big enough for him. If we do, I'll cape one out and save the cape for you. There are several other TBH'ers that I hunt with and I'll put them on high alert for a cape for him...
You'll have to meet me at Terry's place and buy my lunch! I know y'all are old time buddies so that should give y'all an excuse to get together!

Very nice. Always sucks when you can’t find a deer. Glad you got a Euro for your trouble

Awesome gesture ! You don’t think those ole south Tx Fi Gallin Bucket necks would make these harns from Rocksprings look tiny?
He was a 155-165# deer. I would definitely buy You,Terry and Glenda’s lunch

I wouldn’t put a cape on that skull. The cape and ears would hide some of that character.
          Clean him up/euro mount.

I agree a euro would look good.

I get it but this is a true trophy for me! I want to try and see him as he was as with all of my other mounts. Not that Euro’s won’t do that but for me not to the same extent!

Dad had no clue what it was when I yelled "STOP STOP STOP!!!" I knew exactly what it was when I saw it. The head & what was left of the cape was only 20 yds from the road......no telling how many times we drove by it.

Don't worry about a cape. There will be a few mature deer fall at Thanksgiving, and I promise I won't cut any holes in your cape.

Well there you go BN! problem solved!!

Pics are deceiving because he looked like an old moose, but it's all relative I guess... Our bigguns like that run 220-250#... Just might make the shrink gland go off a bit!

                        BTW, how is your shoulder?
                        Heal on its own? Surgery?

It never healed , but it has gotten more manageable. I had given up on bow hunting but mid- summer my BiL started pushing me to get back after it. I cranked my SBXT down “ Way Down” and started by shooting 3 shafts a day , in about 3 weeks I turned it up in very small increments and started shooting 3 three shots in the morning and three in the evening. After 3 months of doing this and progressive # increases and feeling really good I took that bow in and had the draw checked and I was pulling 69#’s fairly comfortably but I told him to turn it back down to 62 and that is my Happy weight. The problem now is more with letting it back down slowly with shaft in. That really puts an ice pick through my joint at break over. That problem has also been solved with my new Mathews V3X 29 and still at 62 # the draw cycle is Butter. .

Edit: Also, I shoot Every day to keep my shoulder in check

That’s a cool buck Wick. Hope you get a good cape for him.
I knew you’d like the Mathews.
