    I-Beam truss question

I have a new shop that just got built and I’m curious what the green screen would say. I have a 10in I-beam in the center and I’m wanting to put a Electric hoist but I’m not sure what kinda load it would safely hold. Not talking huge weight but could it pull a 350 engine say 500-800 lbs?
Specs 12ft wall height 30wx40L 2:12 pitch I would want to pull from the center of that beam it’s highlighted in red. Let me know your thoughts

    Thumbs up! lol

Weight downwards will push out on your side uprights, if 1,000 pounds shears bolts, bends those beams, or breaks out the concrete, you've got some major flaws. I'm no engineer, but for the weights you're proposing you should be more than fine.

      youre fine
I had a similar setup and did just what you describe only I lifted a 1200# tractor grapple to a trailer

If it were me, I would run it past the builder.

You could see if they could weld a c channel below the peak to act as a collar tie as in wood framing.

While your builde is there have him weld you up a 10 to 15 foot piece of I beam to your truss. Then you can mount your winch to a trolly and can move it side to side and mot just straight up.

Yep, and tie them together vertically in the center. Then you can lift a small vehicle from it.
